What defines the word 'Curvy'?

From a young age, I never really fit into my body. I was always on the heavier side, always that little bit taller than everyone else and nothing really seemed to fit me. My trousers would always be that little bit too short and well, everything else just covered my belly frump.

I always struggled to fit into clothes and my body portion has always just been that little bit off. Shopping was always stressful and I'm pretty sure there wasn't one time I would walk out of a shop happy. It would more or less leave me feeling depressed as ever; either because they didn't have my size or nothing seemed to work with my body.
As I've gotten older I have done some research here and there. I have gotten to know what works and what doesn't. But don't get me wrong, I still make the mistake sometimes of trying to fit into a style my body does not take well to.

Just to put it into a perspective of my current body size and shape, I am 5ft 11inch's, I weigh 14st 12Lbs. My busts are 39"/ 36C, my waist is 34" and my hips are 46". It is safe to say that I have an hourglass figure with hip dips.
My current go to at the moment is a pair of mom jeans, a long high neck top tucked in at the bottom and either a pair of leather healed boots or my converses. Each time I put on my jeans, they go up fine until I reach my hips... Then the real panic starts to kick in and each time I worry my zip is going to pop any minute. But for now they're hanging on in there.
I spend a lot of my time looking through stores like Boohoo, Next, Asos, you name it and every time i struggle to find a tall range i am absolutely in love with. The clothes aren't trendy and 95% of the time i will never find the same styles you do for 'normal' women in the tall range.

I crave the 'normal' women style but why cant there be the same design for tall, curvy or even petite?
Furthermore to this rant, why does curvy have to be from 16/18 upwards? I've got a curvy figure and yet I cannot fit into the curvy size range, it would practically fall off me. I feel companies use the word 'curvy' as a softer way to approach a woman's size. Don't get me wrong, I'm not calling anyone fat or too large but the choice of word really annoys me... You can be a size 8/10 or even a size 12 and still be curvy!
The same applies for the word 'Hourglass'!
They always say that you should not fit in clothes, that clothes should fit you. But my argument with this statement is that although I do stand by this point for the most part, how are we supposed to fit into clothes that are not made and tailored for a women's shape?
So I preach to all you women out there that have a similar shape to me. How do you do it? How do you make your style work for you? In my next post I will share some of my tips and tricks of how I show off my curves.
